BRS MLA Harish Rao was released from Gachibowli Police Station on Thursday after being detained earlier in the day. The detention occurred when Rao visited the residence of MLA Kaushik Reddy, who had been arrested along with MLA Jagadish Reddy for allegedly obstructing police duties.
Following his release, Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led government, accusing it of targeting political opponents. “The Congress government is attempting to silence dissent. FIRs are being dictated not from police stations but directly from Gandhi Bhavan. This government is operating with vengeance and retribution. Police must uphold the Constitution, but constitutional violations have now become the government’s ‘seventh guarantee,'” he remarked.
Rao criticized the government for failing to deliver on its promises, saying, “The Congress is inaugurating projects built under KCR’s administration. In one year of rule, not a single new policy has been introduced. Revanth Reddy is functioning as a street leader, not as a Chief Minister. This is not the change that was promised.”
Highlighting unfulfilled commitments, he added, “The promised Rs 1 lakh loans for women remain unimplemented. None of the Warangal Declaration’s nine guarantees have been fulfilled. Farmers continue to struggle without support prices, and loan waivers have only partially reached beneficiaries.”

Harish Rao also demanded the immediate release of Kaushik Reddy and other BRS activists who were detained. “Thousands of BRS workers and women have been arrested across the state. We demand their release. The BRS will stand firmly with Kaushik Reddy and ensure justice for all its activists,” he asserted.
Kaushik Reddy’s arrest was reportedly linked to allegations of threatening a Circle Inspector. The incident led Harish Rao to visit his residence, during which he was also detained.
BRS MLC Kavitha joined in condemning the arrests, likening the government’s actions to “Indira’s Emergency rule.” She stated, “This is not governance; this is an abuse of power. We demand the immediate release of all arrested party leaders.”
Harish Rao’s release has intensified the BRS’s criticism of the Revanth Reddy-led government, with the party vowing to continue its protests until their demands are met.
