Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy declared that Hyderabad will be positioned to compete with global cities. Speaking at the Telangana government event “Hyderabad Rising” on Tuesday, Reddy emphasized the city’s growing potential while contrasting it with the deteriorating conditions of other major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, which suffer from severe pollution. He stressed the need to ensure Hyderabad avoids similar challenges and urged the public to learn from the experiences of these cities.
Reddy, who inaugurated several development initiatives worth Rs. 3,500 crores in the city, reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a global city on par with New York and Tokyo. He announced the formation of a cabinet subcommittee under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Minister to steer the city’s development.

The Chief Minister also addressed concerns over Hyderabad’s image, accusing certain individuals of undermining the city’s brand on social media. He criticized Prime Minister Modi for not fulfilling promises related to the transformation of Old City, likening it to Istanbul. Additionally, Reddy launched a scathing attack on opposition parties, pointing out that essential infrastructure projects, such as drainage systems, had been ignored under the BRS government’s tenure.
In his remarks, Reddy highlighted that Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts contribute 60% of the state’s revenue. He credited the Congress party for bringing the metro to the city and acknowledged the contributions of former leaders like Chandrababu Naidu in advancing the Hi-Tech City project, followed by YSR’s continued efforts.

Further, Reddy laid the foundation for road development projects worth Rs. 3,500 crores, while taking a dig at those profiting from Congress-led development projects by posing for photos.
