The central government has made a significant decision to bring back senior IPS officer Akun Sabharwal to Telangana. Reports indicate that he is being recalled at the special request of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Akun Sabharwal previously handled several high-profile cases in Telangana, particularly the drug-related issues that surfaced in Tollywood during his tenure as Excise Commissioner. Currently serving as the IG of the ITBP, Sabharwal has been ordered to return to Telangana. The Union Home Ministry issued orders relieving him of his duties in the ITBP, effective yesterday.
It is reported that Akun Sabharwal is being brought back to help transform Telangana into a drug-free state, especially given the rising number of drug cases in Tollywood. This decision by the Revanth Reddy government reflects a proactive approach to tackle drug-related challenges in the region.
