A high-tension situation emerged at the residence of YCP leader and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, as members of the BJP Yuva Morcha staged a protest. They surrounded his residence in Tadepalli, accusing him of desecrating the sacred Tirumala Laddu and demanding an apology. Protesters raised slogans, including “Jai Shri Ram,” and staged a sit-in in front of his house. The atmosphere became tense when the police intervened, attempting to disperse the demonstrators.
In response to the Tirumala Laddu controversy, Jagan Mohan Reddy had previously addressed the issue during a press conference on the 20th of this month, strongly criticizing Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Jagan accused Chandrababu of engaging in diversionary politics, claiming that ghee used in the preparation of the Tirumala Laddu had been adulterated. Jagan questioned the appropriateness of Chandrababu’s remarks, particularly as a sitting Chief Minister, suggesting that animal fat was used instead of ghee in the sacred offering. He condemned this as a deliberate attempt to hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees.
Jagan further clarified that tenders for the supply of ghee are issued every six months and that the quality verification processes have remained unchanged. He emphasized that the preparation of the Tirumala Laddu has followed the same traditional methods for decades, and there has been no deviation from these longstanding practices.
