Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu presided over a cabinet meeting at the state secretariat today. Key topics of discussion included budget allocations for Andhra Pradesh and the Polavaram project, particularly in the context of the Union Budget.
The cabinet decided to present the expert committee’s findings on the Polavaram project at a forthcoming NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi on May 27. Discussions focused on addressing issues outlined in the report, with particular attention to the recommendations regarding the damaged diaphragm wall. The expert committee suggested two approaches: ring-fencing the damaged area or constructing a new diaphragm wall in parallel.
The AP government will propose the construction of a new diaphragm wall at the NITI Aayog meeting. The cabinet approved this proposal and passed a resolution commending the Union Budget’s emphasis on Andhra Pradesh.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Naidu provided guidance to ministers, advising them to robustly counter criticisms from the YSRCP and ensure coordination with central funds.
