Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed district collectors to maintain high alert in response to the ongoing heavy rains across the state. In a comprehensive review of the flood situation in all districts on Sunday evening, Minister Ponguleti emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring, particularly of the Godavari River.
Minister Ponguleti highlighted the necessity for district administrations to actively engage in relief and rehabilitation activities. He stressed that every precaution should be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. Officials have been instructed to deploy rescue teams and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units to prevent loss of life and property in areas affected by the Godavari’s surge.
Further, Minister Ponguleti issued directives to senior officials to implement stringent safety measures in low-lying and flood-prone areas. District Collectors have been mandated to coordinate with relevant government departments to mitigate any potential risks to life and property. Additionally, they have been instructed to establish adequate security at streams and enforce measures to prevent individuals from crossing dangerously flowing waters.
Control rooms are to be established at district collectorates, with regular coordination meetings scheduled with police and other departmental officials. Minister Ponguleti assured that the state capital is prepared to provide any necessary assistance. He underscored the need for continuous monitoring of the Godavari’s water levels to manage the situation effectively.
