Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has set a condition for the Telugu film industry regarding ticket rate increases. He stated that filmmakers seeking permission to raise ticket prices must first raise awareness about cyber crimes and drug issues by screening related videos in theaters.
Speaking at the inauguration of TG NAB and Cyber Security Bureau vehicles at the Command Control Centre, the CM emphasized that he was making a suggestion to the film industry. He pointed out that when new films are released, requests often come to the government to approve ticket price hikes. Reddy questioned the industry’s role in combating cyber crimes and drugs, proposing that they create awareness through videos featuring film stars as part of their responsibility.
He stressed that future permissions for theaters would depend on fulfilling this condition. The CM underlined the societal contribution expected from the film industry, mentioning concessions and other benefits contingent upon compliance with the video requirement.
Additionally, Reddy suggested that similar responsibility should be shown by filmmakers when seeking permissions for film shoots. Actor Chiranjeevi acknowledged and appreciated this initiative, particularly the focus on combating drug abuse through film-related efforts.
