After the CJP party went viral on social media recently, another ‘party’ name is now taking over the internet — the ‘E20 Janata Party’. However, this is not a political party contesting elections. It is a social media campaign protesting the sale of petrol blended with 20 percent ethanol, launched to demand rights for vehicle owners. Within just a few minutes of its emergence, lakhs of vehicle owners and middle-class citizens rallied in support, pushing it to trend on social media. So what exactly is this E20 Janata Party, what is it demanding, and who is behind it? Here’s a look.
The campaign’s core demand is that every petrol pump across the country should offer 100 percent pure petrol alongside E20 fuel. Organizers say they are not asking for free fuel or for ethanol-blended petrol to be scrapped altogether. They insist that the choice of which fuel to use in their vehicles should rest with consumers themselves. They point out that their vehicles are not laboratories but are bought with lakhs of rupees, and are demanding that such experiments not be carried out on the engines of vehicles they own.
#E20Truth #E20Fuel… pic.twitter.com/SPfWLxFL79

The campaign is not backing any political party. Organizers have clarified through social media posts that this is a voluntary movement launched by citizens for their rights, and that they are not supporting any political party — their sole aim is to bring the concerns of ordinary vehicle owners to the government’s attention.
Much like the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’, which recently led protests over the NEET question paper leak controversy and resulted in the resignation of the education minister, the ‘E20 Janata Party’ too is expanding rapidly. Its follower count is growing by the day — its X (formerly Twitter) handle has gained over 45,000 followers, while its Instagram page has crossed 1.44 lakh followers.
