A new revolution has begun in the domestic quick commerce sector. Quick commerce services, which had so far been limited to delivering groceries and vegetables, are now expanding into key household utility services. Public sector Maharatna company Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has partnered with leading quick commerce platform Swiggy Instamart, marking a historic agreement between the two companies to deliver on-demand LPG cylinders to customers’ homes in just 10 minutes — a first in the country.
Currently, gas connection customers who book a cylinder have to wait two to three days for delivery. To eliminate this delay entirely, the new service was launched as a pilot project in Bengaluru on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, allowing residents to receive a gas cylinder at their doorstep within just ten minutes of ordering through the Swiggy Instamart app. As part of the partnership, HPCL has introduced a 10-kg ‘HP Nayva’ composite cylinder along with a 5-kg metal cylinder for customers. Made from advanced composite polymer, these Nayva cylinders are 50% lighter than regular steel cylinders and are also rust-proof.
The key feature of these ‘HP Nayva’ cylinders is their partially transparent body, allowing users to easily see how much gas remains inside and estimate in advance when it will run out; these lightweight cylinders were designed keeping in mind small families in apartments, working professionals, and students living alone. Despite being booked through a quick commerce platform, top priority has been given to safety in the supply of these cylinders, which will be delivered only by HPCL’s authorised gas agencies and trained expert staff. For first-time new connections or cylinder purchases, all required verification documents will be collected as per rules before allotting the cylinder, while subsequent orders will be treated as refills, with the empty cylinder collected from customers at the time of delivering the new one.
HPCL Marketing Director Amit Garg said this innovative service was introduced to make LPG cylinders easily accessible to everyone, while Swiggy Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha said the partnership demonstrates Instamart’s commitment to making customers’ daily lives easier. The companies have not yet officially announced when this service, currently available only in Bengaluru, will be expanded to other cities.
