Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a sharp attack on Union Minister Kishan Reddy and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao during an informal interaction with media representatives in Hyderabad, accusing them of hindering the state’s development and maintaining a political understanding at Telangana’s expense.
The Chief Minister alleged that several projects due to Telangana were being deliberately delayed and claimed that Kishan Reddy had become a major obstacle to the state’s progress. Revanth Reddy said he had repeatedly sought updates from the Union Minister regarding pending projects but had not received any response.
Questioning Kishan Reddy’s commitment to Telangana, the Chief Minister asked whether he had ever written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking support for the state’s interests. He further alleged that the Union Minister had blocked financial assistance and key projects meant for Telangana and demanded his resignation if he was unable to effectively represent the state’s interests at the Centre.
Revanth Reddy also alleged the existence of a tacit understanding between the BJP and the BRS. He claimed that decisions taken by Kishan Reddy were influenced by K.T. Rama Rao and accused the BJP of intentionally delaying development projects in Telangana. According to the Chief Minister, all eight BJP MPs elected from the state had failed to work for Telangana’s welfare.
In a related remark, he alleged that BJP leaders had obstructed the proposed Metro Rail project in Malkajgiri due to internal political rivalries, claiming concerns over the growing popularity of Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender within the party.
Responding to questions about Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, Revanth Reddy clarified that he had no issues with the actor-politician and that Pawan was free to conduct political and public programmes in Telangana.
The Chief Minister explained that certain permissions had been denied in the past only due to law-and-order concerns and recalled that Minister Ponnam Prabhakar had already responded to questions raised by Pawan Kalyan. He also alleged that public meetings of YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy were not being permitted in Andhra Pradesh.
Revanth Reddy strongly criticized the rejection of Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination for the Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha election. He alleged that the nomination was rejected based on a case that did not legally exist and accused the BJP of manipulating the electoral process.
The Chief Minister claimed that after engaging in “vote theft,” the BJP had now resorted to “seat theft.” He further alleged that the decision to field a third candidate in the Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha election was part of a larger political strategy.
Highlighting constitutional provisions, Revanth Reddy stated that the Constitution recognizes the merger of political parties but does not provide for the merger of elected representatives. He also clarified that no BRS leader had formally joined the Congress party.
The Chief Minister dismissed ongoing speculation regarding a Cabinet expansion in Telangana, stating that he had not held any discussions on the subject with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
He noted that while many Congress MLAs were qualified for ministerial positions, constitutional limitations restricted the size of the Cabinet. Revanth Reddy said ministerial appointments would be made based on social and regional considerations and emphasized that party legislators were free to meet Rahul Gandhi whenever they wished.
Addressing the controversy surrounding his recent comments on HYDRAA, Revanth Reddy clarified that he had only spoken about the agency’s functioning and significance. He categorically denied claims that he had praised Adolf Hitler or described him as a role model, asserting that his remarks had been misinterpreted.
