The Telangana State Education Department has officially released the academic calendar for the 2026-27 academic year, outlining the schedule for classes, holidays, and school working hours. According to the calendar, schools across the state will function for a total of 227 working days during the academic year.
The department has directed all schools to complete the syllabus for students from Classes 1 to 9 by February 28, 2027, ensuring adequate time for revision and academic assessments.
Dasara, Sankranti Holidays Finalised
As per the academic calendar, Dasara holidays will be observed from October 10 to October 22, 2026, providing students with a 13-day break. Sankranti holidays have been scheduled from January 13 to January 17, 2027, giving students a five-day vacation for the festival.
The last working day of the academic year has been fixed as April 23, 2027. Summer holidays will commence from April 24 and continue until June 13, 2027.
Revised School Timings Announced
The Education Department has also specified school working hours for different categories of institutions. High schools and upper primary schools across Telangana will function from 9:00 AM to 4:15 PM.
Keeping traffic conditions in Hyderabad and Secunderabad in mind, authorities have prescribed separate timings for schools in the twin cities. High schools and upper primary schools in these areas will operate from 8:45 AM to 4:00 PM.
Primary schools (Classes 1 to 5) across the state will function from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, while primary schools in Hyderabad and Secunderabad will operate from 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM.
The newly released academic calendar is expected to help schools streamline academic activities and ensure the timely completion of the curriculum throughout the year.
