The POCSO case involving Bandi Bhagirath who has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, has reportedly reached the attention of the Union Home Ministry. According to sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has sought details regarding the case and reviewed an internal report on the developments in Telangana.
Officials said the Home Minister inquired about the latest status of the investigation and the overall law-and-order situation in the state. The development comes in the backdrop of a recent meeting between Telangana Governor Siv Pratap Shukla and Amit Shah in New Delhi, where a detailed report on the state’s political and administrative situation was submitted.
Sources indicate that the Governor’s report also included references to the Bhagirath case, which has now gained significance at the central level. As per protocol, state Governors periodically submit reports to the Union Home Ministry on political and law-and-order conditions in their respective states.
The inclusion of the case in the Governor’s briefing is said to have prompted further scrutiny from the Home Ministry, though there has been no official confirmation or public statement from the Centre regarding any specific action.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the case continues under Telangana police, with officials maintaining that the probe is progressing as per legal procedures.
