In a significant political development in Tamil Nadu, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is set to form the government after registering a massive victory in the Assembly elections. The party successfully crossed the majority mark of 118 seats on Friday after receiving support from Left parties and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), clearing the path for government formation under TVK chief Vijay.
Following the show of support, preparations for the swearing-in ceremony have gathered pace. According to party sources, Vijay is expected to take oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Saturday, marking a historic entry into governance for the actor-turned-politician and his newly established party.
Along with Vijay, several senior leaders are likely to be inducted into the new cabinet. Sources indicate that the ministry may consist of around 35 members. Prominent leaders including N. Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, Sengottaiyan, Nirmal Kumar and VCK leader Thirumavalavan are expected to be part of the cabinet.
Political sources further stated that the Congress party, which has extended support to the alliance, may also be accommodated in the ministry with two cabinet berths. Discussions regarding portfolio allocation and final cabinet composition are reportedly underway.
The formation of the TVK-led government is being viewed as a major political shift in Tamil Nadu, ending the long-standing dominance of the DMK and AIADMK in the state’s political landscape. All eyes are now on Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony, which is expected to witness the presence of several prominent political leaders and film personalities.
