A major security breach was reported at the high-security premises of the Delhi Assembly in the national capital on Monday afternoon, triggering panic among officials and security agencies. The incident occurred just days after bomb threats were issued during the ongoing budget session, raising fresh concerns over security preparedness.
According to officials, an unidentified masked individual drove a vehicle into the Assembly complex after forcefully breaking through the main gate. At around 2 PM, a Tata Sierra with a Uttar Pradesh registration number sped towards the premises, evaded security checks, and rammed into Gate No. 2, damaging the iron barricades before entering the complex.
Despite the deployment of CRPF personnel at the VIP gate, the speed of the vehicle prevented security forces from stopping it in time. The intruder then drove directly towards the office of Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, where he briefly halted near the veranda.
In a surprising turn of events, the individual placed a bouquet near the Speaker’s office and quickly fled the complex in the same vehicle. Security personnel immediately alerted bomb disposal squads and police teams, who examined the bouquet and confirmed that no suspicious materials or explosives were found.
Delhi Police have termed the incident a serious security lapse and launched a detailed investigation. CCTV footage from the Assembly complex and surrounding areas is being thoroughly reviewed to identify the suspect. A high alert has been issued across the city, and efforts are underway to trace the vehicle and apprehend the individual, while senior officials review existing security protocols and probe the motive behind the breach.
