The Telangana government on Friday presented its annual budget, with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announcing a total outlay of ₹3,24,234 crore. During his budget speech, he unveiled five new welfare schemes aimed at strengthening social security, education, and employment opportunities across the state.

A key highlight is the “Indiramma Family Life Insurance” scheme, under which ₹5 lakh insurance coverage will be provided to each of the state’s 1.15 crore families. The scheme is set to be implemented from June 2, 2026, to offer financial protection to households.

In the education sector, the government announced a breakfast scheme for students from pre-primary to intermediate level, to be rolled out from the 2026–27 academic year. Under the scheme, students will receive milk three days a week and ragi porridge on the remaining three days. The mid-day meal scheme will also be extended to students in government junior colleges.

Additionally, the government introduced a “Chief Minister Overseas Employment Programme” to assist youth in securing jobs abroad by providing language training and visa guidance. It also announced the distribution of motorized vehicles to differently-abled intermediate students to improve their mobility and access to education.
