The high-profile Moinabad farmhouse drugs case has taken a significant turn with the government constituting a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. Special orders were issued to form the team, which is led by CP Sudheer Babu and tasked with investigating drug-related activities that occurred at the farmhouse owned by former BRS Tandur MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy.
The case came to light after a recent alcohol party at the farmhouse reportedly involved drug consumption. Acting on credible intelligence, Telangana Eagle Team police raided the property last Saturday, apprehending 11 individuals. Blood tests confirmed that six of them, including Rohith Reddy and Aluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, had consumed drugs. The raid also witnessed chaos when Namit Sharma, a visitor from Delhi, allegedly fired at police officers.
Police alleged that the firing was carried out under Rohith Reddy’s instructions to obstruct the raid. Following the incident, a case was registered against all 11 individuals, with Rohith Reddy identified as the prime accused. Two others were arrested alongside him, while the remaining eight were granted station bail. On Sunday night, Rohith Reddy, Ritesh Reddy, and Namit Sharma were produced before a magistrate in Upparpally and sent to Chanchalguda Jail for a 14-day remand.
The SIT investigating the case is headed by Chevella DCP Yogesh Gautam, with members including Greyhounds Commander Ravinder Reddy, Shadnagar DCP Shireesh, Eagle DSPs Bucchayya and Harish Chandr Reddy, Moinabad SHO Mallikharjuna, and SIs Koteswar Rao, Venkanna, and Sadat Ali. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation will be thorough, given the high-profile nature of the case and the involvement of public figures.
