Political tensions in Bihar have intensified ahead of the state assembly elections, following remarks by Congress leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi during a rally in Rega. She directly targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and two other officials, issuing strong warnings. Speaking from the podium, Gandhi said, “Gyanesh Kumar, if you think you will retire peacefully, that will not happen. People, never forget the name Gyanesh Kumar.” She also urged the public to remember officials S.S. Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. Congress supporters responded with loud slogans such as “chor-chor” (thief-thief).

Gandhi further criticized alleged electoral irregularities, citing manipulation of votes in Haryana. She warned that any attempt to deceive the public would not be tolerated and reiterated that officials involved—including Gyanesh Kumar, S.S. Sandhu, and Vivek Joshi—would not be able to retire peacefully if found guilty of any wrongdoing.

Prior to Priyanka Gandhi’s remarks, Rahul Gandhi had also accused the Election Commission of manipulating the 2024 Haryana Assembly election results. He alleged that 25 lakh fake votes were used to alter outcomes and claimed that votes for Congress supporters were deliberately reduced, asserting that his statements were entirely accurate.

The Bihar Assembly elections are being held in two phases. Voting has taken place in 121 constituencies, with the remaining 122 constituencies scheduled for November 11. The counting of votes for all seats is set for November 14.
