The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a record-breaking cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the Indian women’s cricket team following their historic victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup. India clinched the title for the first time by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final held at Navi Mumbai. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia made the announcement, calling it a recognition of the team’s exceptional achievement on the global stage. Notably, the BCCI’s prize amount exceeds the ICC’s official champion prize money of approximately ₹39.78 crore.
Saikia stated that the Rs 51 crore reward will be distributed among all team members, including players, coaching staff, and support personnel. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh also extended their wishes, lauding the team’s remarkable performance.
