Hyderabad: Suspended BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha is reportedly preparing to launch her own political platform, signaling an ambition to become a significant force in Telangana ahead of the next Assembly elections. Her recent focus has been on consolidating Telangana Jagruti, the socio-political organization she leads, with an emphasis on social justice and empowerment of marginalized communities. On the occasion of Dussehra, Kavitha announced the state committee of Telangana Jagruti, appointing several new members, further fueling speculation about her future political trajectory.
Kavitha has emphasized social justice as a central tenet of her new committee, allocating over 80% of positions to backward and marginalized communities. Notably, senior ST leader Lakavat Roop Singh, a former head of the BRS labor wing, has been appointed Working President of Telangana Jagruti, indicating her intent to consolidate support among Scheduled Tribes, BCs, and other weaker sections. By structuring her committee strategically, Kavitha appears to be positioning herself as a leader for marginalized groups while carefully avoiding potential criticism of bias.
As part of her political strategy, Kavitha is planning a statewide outreach program, meeting intellectuals, artists, poets, and social activists to gather insights and public feedback. Based on these consultations, Telangana Jagruti will move forward with third-phase appointments, laying the foundation for her broader political ambitions. While her initiatives currently focus on social activism, Telangana identity, and public engagement, indications suggest that Kavitha may eventually transform Telangana Jagruti into a full-fledged political party, leveraging public dissatisfaction with the ruling party and her Telangana movement legacy to establish a strong political presence.
