Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, chief of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), has issued a stern warning amid the ongoing Assembly sessions in Andhra Pradesh, where opposition legislators have been boycotting proceedings. Jagan clarified that he never directed his party MLAs to skip the sessions but asserted that the government must guarantee adequate speaking time even if it does not grant them official Opposition status. He cautioned that if disciplinary action is taken against YSRCP MLAs for non-attendance, both party MPs and MLAs would resign and seek a fresh mandate from the people.
He earlier told the YSRCP legislature party that his participation in the Assembly depends on being allotted sufficient time to present public issues. Jagan questioned how meaningful discussions could be held if he is given only a few minutes like other MLAs, stressing the need for ample time to raise public concerns. He urged his party legislators to meet the Speaker directly and secure a clear assurance on speaking time, as the Speaker has stated that time would be provided if they attend the House.
