Hanamkoda: A 16-year-old intermediate student from Mancherial district died by suicide at a private college in Hanumakonda’s Naeem Nagar, Telangana, on Sunday, highlighting growing concerns over academic pressure among students. According to police, the student left a note in her classroom expressing distress over not being able to understand lessons and falling behind in her studies.
Classmates discovered the girl unconscious in her hostel room and alerted the college management, who immediately informed the police. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Police recovered the suicide note and shifted the body for postmortem examination.
The incident has left her parents, friends, and fellow students in deep shock. Hanumakonda police have registered a case and are investigating the matter, while education experts have emphasized the urgent need for schools and parents to provide mental health support and counseling to help students cope with academic stress and unrealistic expectations.
