London: The ongoing India-England Test series has taken a significant turn as Team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test due to injury. The series, which has seen four matches so far, stands with India winning one, England winning two, and one ending in a draw. The final match is scheduled to be played on July 31 at The Oval in London.
The BCCI confirmed that Pant suffered a fracture to his right toe during the first innings of the fourth Test in Manchester while attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes’ delivery. Despite continuing to bat and scoring 54 runs, he was unable to keep wickets. Medical assessments have advised six weeks of rest, leading to Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batsman Narayan Jagadeesan being named as his replacement.
