Hyderabad: In a significant update to its monetisation policies, YouTube has announced that starting July 15, creators uploading reused, repetitive, or mass-produced content will no longer be eligible for ad revenue under the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). The move is expected to impact a large number of content creators who rely on AI tools or re-upload existing content for monetisation. The platform clarified that only creators producing original content will continue to earn revenue.
According to YouTube, videos featuring copied material, AI-generated voices or avatars, auto-scripted content, and reaction clips with minimal value addition will fall under this new rule. While virtual YouTubers who use animated avatars but create original voiceovers and meaningful content will not be affected, creators who depend heavily on automated content creation could lose monetisation access entirely. The platform has urged creators to avoid template-based videos, repetitive uploads, and clickbait thumbnails. The revised system will now analyse video content, titles, and thumbnails to detect originality, with the aim of encouraging authentic and creator-driven content on the platform.
