Hyderabad is witnessing heavy rainfall as dense clouds gathered suddenly, intensifying into a strong downpour since lunchtime. The rain has caused waterlogging on many city roads, resulting in traffic difficulties. Authorities have issued warnings urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel. The Telangana State Weather Department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rains across several districts in the state over the next three days.
While parts of Hyderabad experienced cloudy conditions from the previous night, substantial rainfall began abruptly this morning, changing the weather dramatically from clear skies. Areas including Dilsukhnagar, Ramanthapur, Amberpet, Nampally, Charminar, Koti, Malakpet, Abids, Banjara Hills, and Ameerpet are currently facing heavy showers. Other localities such as Shamshabad, Arangur, Chandrayangutta, Attapur, Rajendranagar, Tolichowki, Mehdipatnam, Langer House, Gachibowli, Narsingi, Bandlaguda, Nanakramguda, Serilingampally, Patancheru, and Miyapur have also reported significant rainfall. The meteorological department has warned that more areas are likely to experience heavy rainfall in the coming hours.
Chief Minister E. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to maintain heightened vigilance during this period. He emphasized precautionary measures to protect grain stocks at procurement centers and markets from moisture damage and to ensure timely transport of secured stocks to mills. District collectors have been directed to implement relief measures for residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas. In Hyderabad, authorities are monitoring waterlogging on roads to minimize traffic congestion and power outages. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), police, electricity, traffic, and water supply departments are coordinating efforts, with the Chief Secretary ordered to review the situation continuously.
