Hyderabad: A major fire broke out on Saturday at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad, triggering panic among patients and staff. The blaze reportedly originated on the fifth floor, near the emergency ward, causing alarm across the hospital.

As thick smoke spread, patients and hospital staff were seen rushing out of the affected wards in fear. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties, as the fire did not affect any patient wards directly. Officials stated that the fifth floor, where the fire broke out, housed an auditorium and not patient rooms.

The hospital staff promptly alerted the police and fire department. Firefighters rushed to the scene and began efforts to contain the blaze. Initial findings suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit in a panel board located next to the elevator.

While no injuries have been reported, officials are yet to assess the extent of property damage. Medical staff assured that patients in the emergency ward were unharmed, though many were shaken by the incident. Family members of patients expressed deep concern, as the fire triggered temporary chaos.

Authorities have begun a detailed investigation into the incident.
