The Andhra Pradesh Specialty Hospitals Association has announced the suspension of Aarogyasri network services from April 7, citing the state government’s failure to clear pending bills amounting to Rs 3,500 crore. The association has formally issued a strike notice to the government, highlighting the financial strain faced by hospitals due to unpaid dues.

Since the formation of the TDP-led coalition government, the association has made 26 representations to key officials, including the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust CEO, Special Chief Secretary of the Health Department, IT Minister, and Chief Minister, urging the clearance of outstanding payments. However, with no positive response, hospitals are now unable to sustain operations, Association President Vijay stated in an official release.

The association has also revealed that 26 letters were sent to the government over the past 10 months, yet no action was taken. In response, it has issued an ultimatum, stating that services will only resume if the government clears outstanding payments and ensures timely disbursement of future bills.

Following the announcement, government officials have reportedly initiated discussions with the association to resolve the crisis. Sources indicate that senior authorities are assessing options to release pending payments, as the suspension of Aarogyasri services could severely impact poor patients dependent on free healthcare and lead to negative public perception of the administration.
