Pakistan is situated in one of the world’s most seismically active regions due to its location along the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Areas such as Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and tribal regions lie on the southern edge of the Eurasian plate, while Sindh, Punjab, and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir fall on the northwestern edge of the Indian plate.

The collision and movement of these plates frequently trigger earthquakes in the region. The NCS had earlier reported a 4.6-magnitude earthquake in Pakistan on Monday. Authorities continue to monitor seismic activity closely and have advised residents to remain cautious.
