Washington: The United States has intensified its crackdown on illegal immigration under the leadership of President Donald Trump, leading to the deportation of thousands of undocumented migrants. The Trump administration had earlier introduced special deportation flights to send back illegal residents to their home countries and continued conducting strict nationwide inspections. This sustained effort to identify and remove those residing without valid documentation has now resulted in the deportation of several thousand individuals, including a significant number of Indian nationals.
According to official data released by the Government of India, as many as 2,790 Indians have been deported from the US this year for illegal stay. The figures were confirmed by External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a press briefing on Thursday. He stated that between January and October 29, 2025, more than 2,790 Indian citizens returned home after being verified as undocumented residents. The spokesperson emphasized that only those lacking proper legal documents are being repatriated after thorough scrutiny and confirmation of their immigration status.

Officials noted that the growing number of deportations highlights the United States’ strict enforcement of immigration laws. The American government has been implementing tough measures against those overstaying their H-1B, student, or tourist visas or crossing borders illegally. The scale of deportations within such a short period underscores the severity of the immigration crackdown. This marks one of the highest instances of Indian nationals being deported from the US in recent years, reflecting Washington’s renewed zero-tolerance stance toward illegal immigration.
