Zoho Corporation has launched Arattai, a homegrown messaging application designed to compete with global platforms such as WhatsApp, which boasts millions of users worldwide and is particularly popular in India. Developed in line with the government’s push for technological self-reliance, Arattai prioritizes user data privacy, with all information securely stored within the country, addressing growing concerns over foreign apps and data security.

The app offers standard messaging features along with several distinctive functionalities. These include end-to-end encryption for personal and group chats, high-quality voice and video calls with group calling support, subscription-based channels for news and information, and seamless document sharing, including office files. Additionally, Arattai supports multiple Indian languages, including Telugu, and features a WhatsApp-like interface to ensure ease of use for new users.
