YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) spokesperson Shyamala launched a sharp attack on Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, questioning his stance on women’s safety. Addressing a press conference on International Women’s Day, she remarked, “Has Pawan Kalyan lost his courage?” and accused him of failing to address issues concerning women.
Shyamala also targeted Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, alleging that the coalition government misled the public with false promises. She asserted that under the YSRCP administration, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had implemented several welfare initiatives for women, including the Disha App, which she claimed ensured their safety.
Referring to Pawan Kalyan’s past statements on women’s security, she questioned his silence on the issue now. “Pawan Kalyan once declared that protecting women was his responsibility—where is that commitment today?” she asked. She further criticized the coalition government, stating that despite Pawan Kalyan’s own admission that women’s safety is at risk, there have been no concrete policy measures introduced to address the issue.

During the press conference, Shyamala played video clips of Pawan Kalyan’s election speeches and accused the ruling alliance of failing to fulfill key promises. She claimed that the Navaratnalu schemes were successfully implemented under the previous YSRCP government, while the coalition’s much-publicized Super Six promises have remained unfulfilled. “Chandrababu Naidu promised to implement the Super Six schemes before elections—where are they now?” she questioned.
Shyamala also raised concerns over the free bus travel scheme for women, pointing out that while Chandrababu Naidu had promised free travel, the benefit has now been restricted to district limits. Additionally, she criticized the government’s silence on the Sugali Preethi case, reminding that the ruling alliance had pledged to resolve it immediately after coming to power. “What happened to that case now?” she demanded.
Concluding her remarks, Shyamala questioned Chandrababu Naidu’s credibility, stating, “He spoke about women’s empowerment, but what actions has he taken since assuming office?”
