Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSRCP Chief and former Chief Minister, is facing significant challenges following his party’s defeat in the recent elections. Several party leaders have resigned, and recently, two Members of Parliament, Mopidevi Venkataramana and Beeda Mastan Rao, have also stepped down. Both MPs have resigned from their party positions as well as their Rajya Sabha seats, with their resignation letters submitted to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Reports indicate that Mopidevi Venkataramana and Beeda Mastan Rao will join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on the 5th and 6th of next month in the presence of Minister Lokesh.
Mopidevi Venkataramana has provided a detailed explanation for his resignation, citing multiple factors including disagreements with YS Jagan. He indicated that personal differences with Jagan were among the reasons for his decision. Venkataramana clarified that he prefers to avoid publicizing internal party matters and expressed a desire to remain engaged in local politics rather than holding a Rajya Sabha seat.
He had considered resigning from the YSRCP when he was not given an MLA ticket during the recent assembly elections but chose not to do so at that time to avoid negatively impacting the party and Jagan. With the TDP currently in power in Andhra Pradesh, Venkataramana emphasized that his decision to switch parties is not motivated by a pursuit of positions. He confirmed his intention to join the TDP and will announce the specifics of his joining date soon.
