Hyderabad: YSRCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who was arrested on Thursday, has been joined by two more individuals in police custody. With this, the total number of arrests in the Satyavardhan kidnapping and assault case has risen to eight.
The latest detainees, Venkata Sivaramakrishna and Nimm Lakshmipathi, were taken into custody on Wednesday evening. Police have identified Vallabhaneni Vamsi as Accused No. 1 (A1), while Venkata Sivaramakrishna and Nimm Lakshmipathi have been named A7 and A8, respectively. The accused were transferred from Krishna Lanka police station to Vijayawada Government Hospital for medical examinations before being presented in court.
New details have emerged regarding Vamsi’s arrest. Following the formation of the alliance government, the probe into the attack on the TDP office gained momentum. Vamsi had approached the court in this case, with a verdict expected on February 20. However, Vijayawada police arrested him before the ruling.
Sources indicate that Vamsi’s arrest is linked to the alleged kidnapping and intimidation of TDP office employee Satyavardhan. Notably, Satyavardhan recently filed an affidavit in court denying any connection to the case and withdrew his complaint two days ago.
A major breakthrough occurred when CCTV footage from February 13 allegedly showed Vamsi’s followers escorting Satyavardhan to court in a car. Based on this evidence, police registered a case against Vamsi and his associates, leading to the latest arrests.
