Andhra Pradesh former Chief Minister and YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly reacted to allegations of accepting bribes from Adani, following claims made in an FBI charge sheet. Jagan clarified that his name was not mentioned anywhere in the charge sheet and warned that he would file a defamation lawsuit against those making baseless allegations against him. Speaking to the media on Thursday regarding corruption linked to Adani Solar Power projects, Jagan asked if anyone had ever offered him a bribe. He criticized those who were making statements without understanding the facts.
Legal Notices for Allegations:
“I have met Adani several times. There are numerous projects by Adani in the state. These meetings have nothing to do with power agreements. I will file a defamation lawsuit against those making false accusations. They are tarnishing my reputation. We will issue legal notices to those spreading false propaganda. I am unaware of any case filed in the US. If it mentions Biden, should they ask him? If I bring power at a cheaper rate, instead of praising me, why am I being criticized? I brought electricity at Rs 2.49 per unit. There should be justice and fairness. Should stones be thrown at those who do good? Reducing the burden on the state treasury also creates wealth. What do you have to say, Nara Chandrababu Naidu?” Jagan expressed his frustration.
State’s Deterioration Under Red Book Governance:
YS Jagan also addressed the state’s current situation, claiming that Andhra Pradesh was moving toward regression. He accused the previous government of undermining the constitution with “Red Book” governance, criticizing the prevalence of liquor and sand scams and the rise of gambling clubs. He pointed out that there is a Rs 2,000 crore backlog in the Amma Vodi scheme and an increase in dropout rates due to the lack of education schemes.
Jagan also highlighted the government’s failure to fulfill promises to provide double salaries for volunteers while accusing the previous administration of neglecting job creation. He emphasized that his government had brought numerous services to villages, achieving self-governance, and making government services more accessible without burdening the people. Jagan criticized Chandrababu Naidu for undermining such progress.
