Hyderabad: Popular YouTuber Bhayya Sunny Yadav was arrested by police at Chennai International Airport on charges related to the promotion of illegal online betting applications. The arrest comes in connection with a case already registered against him at Nuthankal Police Station under the Suryapet Commissionerate in Telangana.
According to officials, Yadav was taken into custody after returning from a bike tour in Pakistan, which he had publicized on social media. The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by TSRTC Managing Director V.C. Sajjanar via social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Sajjanar alleged that Yadav had been promoting online betting apps through multiple social media platforms, including Telegram, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case under various sections of the Information Technology Act (2000–2008) — including Sections 111(2), 318(4), 46 r/w 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 3 and 4 of the Telangana State Gaming Act (TSGA), and Sections 66-C and 66-D of the IT Act.
Officials stated that the YouTuber’s actions are being treated as a serious threat to public interest, especially concerning the influence on youth. They further alleged that Yadav, in a bid to generate higher revenue, collaborated with betting app promoters and misused his digital reach to advertise such platforms.
Sunny Yadav is widely followed for his travel and bike ride content, having amassed a substantial subscriber base on YouTube. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the extent of his involvement in illegal betting promotions.
