Guntur: A woman teacher was fatally injured in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district on Wednesday. The deceased, K. Padmavathi (42), a mathematics teacher working with the Educational Research Board in Mangalagiri, was struck by a speeding car while crossing the National Highway at Atmakur.
According to officials, the incident occurred when Padmavathi was attempting to cross the highway with another woman. A car heading from Vijayawada to Guntur hit her, causing severe head injuries. State Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, who happened to be passing by, immediately transported her to AIIMS Mangalagiri in his vehicle. However, doctors confirmed that she had died before reaching the hospital. The car involved reportedly stopped a short distance from the scene, and the occupants fled. Police have launched a probe and efforts are underway to trace the absconding suspects.
