Kurur, Tamil Nadu: A stampede broke out during a roadshow organized by actor and TVK leader Vijay in Kurur, leaving 30 people dead, including women and children, while several others sustained serious injuries. Dozens of the injured are receiving treatment at local hospitals, and officials have warned that the death toll could rise as rescue operations continue.
The incident occurred when a large crowd of supporters and party workers had gathered for Vijay’s campaign address. Eyewitnesses reported that the stampede began during his speech. Observing the chaos, Vijay reportedly ended his address abruptly and distributed water bottles to the crowd.
