In a significant development, the Vijayawada SC/ST Special Court has granted a three-day police custody for YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi. Issuing the order on February 24, the court directed authorities to interrogate Vamsi daily from 10 AM to 5 PM while ensuring medical examinations in the morning and evening. Considering his petition citing back pain, the court also permitted the use of a bed during custody. The interrogation must take place within Vijayawada limits and in the presence of a legal representative.

Following this, police registered a new case against Vamsi, alleging that he had coerced Satyavardhan into filing a revised affidavit through intimidation. Cellphone audio recordings reportedly confirming the threat have been recovered as evidence.
Vamsi has been booked under multiple sections, including the SC/ST Act and BNS Act 140 (1), 308, and 351 (3) read with 3(5). Satyavardhan informed the police that he was forced to withdraw his petition due to threats from Vamsi’s followers. As a result, five of Vamsi’s associates have also been named in the case. If convicted under the 140(1) Act, Vamsi could face a prison term of up to 10 years.
