Former MP Vijay Sai Reddy stirred political debate on Monday with a cryptic social media post that was widely seen as an indirect attack on YSR Congress Party (YSCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. In his post on X, Vijay Sai Reddy drew a comparison between Jagan and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, triggering sharp reactions from YSRCP leaders and supporters.
In the tweet, Vijay Sai Reddy urged public leaders who are “held hostage by compromised coteries” to introspect and recognise what the future may hold for them. Referring to Venezuela, he claimed that despite enjoying popular support and having the backing of the army, navy, air force and intelligence agencies, President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were allegedly taken away by the United States, attributing the situation to betrayal by those around him.

Vijayasai Reddy V (@VSReddy_MP) January 18, 2026
The remarks prompted strong criticism from YSRCP leaders and party supporters on social media. Several users accused Vijay Sai Reddy of hypocrisy, pointing out that he had earlier enjoyed key positions within the same inner circle and was now issuing moral lectures after stepping away. Others questioned whether his comments amounted to a breach of trust and asked why he did not speak out earlier if he believed the system was compromised.
The exchange has added to the growing political tensions within and around the YSRCP, with Vijay Sai Reddy’s comments continuing to draw widespread attention online.
