Kurur, Tamil Nadu: A devastating stampede occurred during a roadshow organized by actor and TVK leader Vijay in Kurur, Tamil Nadu, leaving 31 people dead and many others critically injured. Authorities have warned that the death toll may rise further. The casualties include women, six children, and several party workers.

Officials reported that the venue, designed to hold 10,000 people, was overwhelmed by a crowd of nearly 100,000, leading to the stampede. Vijay halted his address mid-way to distribute water bottles to attendees, but several individuals fell, and delayed ambulance access contributed to the casualties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep shock over the incident and extended condolences to the victims’ families, urging them not to lose courage and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin described the situation as alarming, directing authorities to provide full medical assistance to the victims and to restore normalcy at the event site. He also urged citizens to cooperate with police and medical teams.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan condemned the incident, highlighting the deaths of children as particularly tragic. He extended condolences and called on the Tamil Nadu government to ensure proper treatment for all injured individuals.
