After two years of deliberations, U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a 20-point peace plan for Gaza. The United Nations Security Council approved the U.S.-drafted resolution on Monday, receiving 13 votes in favor, while Russia and China abstained. The approval paves the way for the formation of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.
The ISF, under Trump’s plan, will enter Gaza to demilitarize armed groups, secure key areas, and provide support for humanitarian aid, coordinating its operations with Israel and Egypt. The United States expressed willingness to participate in the force.
The UN rejected a Hamas proposal, citing its failure to address Palestinian rights and its assertion of control over Gaza. Under the plan, Hamas and other non-state armed groups will be required to surrender weapons permanently. The resolution also calls for the establishment of a newly trained Palestinian police force to assume law enforcement duties previously managed by Hamas.
Additionally, the plan proposes a peace council led by Trump and a World Bank-backed trust fund to support Gaza’s reconstruction and long-term stabilization.
