In a major security operation on Sunday in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, two Pakistani terrorists were killed. The Operation Trashi-I, jointly conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF, targeted militants hiding in the dense Chatrū forest. Security forces continue to conduct search operations in the area, while internet services have been temporarily suspended and surveillance strengthened in nearby regions to maintain peace.

Intelligence inputs indicated that the terrorists were holed up in a thickly forested area of the Chatrū belt. Security forces cordoned off the location, and around 11 a.m., the militants opened fire from a mud house. Troops responded immediately, leading to a brief but intense gunfight that ended with both terrorists killed on the spot.

Authorities suspect that one of the slain militants was **Saifullah**, a most-wanted commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit, who had been evading security forces while carrying out attacks in the region. Two AK-47 rifles, a large quantity of explosives, and other war materials were recovered from the site.

Operations in Kishtwar’s forested areas have been ongoing for several weeks. On January 18, a previous encounter during the same operation resulted in the death of a Para commando and injuries to eight soldiers. Despite heavy snowfall and challenging terrain, security forces maintained vigilance, and the latest success has dealt a significant blow to the local terrorist network.
