Two major road accidents were reported from different parts of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of two persons and injuries to several others. In Prakasam district, a private travels bus rammed into a mini lorry parked on the roadside near Chinnarikatla in Konakanamitla mandal during the early hours. At the same time, another private bus collided head-on with an APSRTC bus traveling from Vijayawada to Kanigiri, leading to the death of one person on the spot and serious injuries to 12 passengers.
Soon after the incidents, local residents, police, and fire personnel rushed to the accident sites and launched rescue operations. The injured in the Prakasam district accidents were shifted to Kanigiri Government Hospital, where doctors said the condition of some victims was critical and emergency treatment was being provided. Police registered cases and said the exact cause of the accidents is yet to be ascertained.
In a separate accident on the Tuni highway near Kakinada, a private Flix Travels bus crashed into a lorry near the Rural Police Station. The bus co-driver died on the spot, while the driver and three passengers sustained serious injuries and several others suffered minor injuries. The bus, which was traveling from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada with around 25 passengers, was severely damaged, and police have begun an investigation into the incident.
