US President Donald Trump has added a new luxury aircraft to the Air Force One fleet. The Qatari royal family gifted America a Boeing 747-8, which has been named the ‘VC-25B Bridge.’ President Trump unveiled the aircraft to the world in the presence of senior officials at an Air Force hangar in Maryland. Trump will henceforth conduct his official tours aboard this aircraft.
Trump stated that the plane is not merely a means of transport but will function as a “flying White House” in the sky, adding that no one has ever seen such a magnificent aircraft before. He noted that the interior is beautifully appointed, with luxury wooden paneling designed to evoke the feel of a five-star hotel room. The American national flag has been printed on the tail section of the aircraft.
Significant expenditure was incurred to modify the Qatar-gifted aircraft to meet the security standards required for the US President. Trump also had the plane’s color scheme changed to his personal preference. Previously, Air Force One aircraft featured light sky blue and silver tones, but this new aircraft sports dark blue, red, and white. The underside of the plane has been painted dark blue, with a bright stripe designed along the middle. The official presidential seal has been placed near the left-side boarding door.

While Qatar provided the aircraft free of charge, the US government spent a whopping $400 million — approximately ₹3,300 crore in Indian currency — to retrofit it to meet military and defense requirements. American engineers have installed state-of-the-art security systems and communication networks both inside and outside the aircraft. It is understood that the plane’s defense shield has been made ready to ensure protection against any threat from adversaries.
