U.S. President Donald Trump has once again sparked speculation about a potential third run for the presidency in 2028. Speaking at a media interaction, Trump dismissed the idea of contesting for the vice presidency but stopped short of ruling out another bid for the top post. When asked directly about running again, he said he was “considering the possibility,” claiming to have “strong chances of winning” and “data to back it.” His remarks have reignited debates over whether he might attempt to challenge the constitutional limit on presidential terms.
Trump clarified that he was not currently focused on the issue, adding that Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were likely frontrunners for the 2028 Republican ticket. He acknowledged that surpassing them would be difficult and emphasized that any effort to challenge term limits through the courts would be complex. Trump, who would become the oldest president in U.S. history by the end of his second term, has made similar statements in the past, keeping his supporters and critics guessing about his political future.
🚨 JUST IN: President Trump says he’d be allowed to serve a 3RD TERM in 2028 via running for vice president, then the president stepping down
But, “I wouldn't do that. I think it's too cute.” 😂

Under the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, no person can serve more than two presidential terms. Despite this restriction, Trump’s repeated hints — along with reports that his former strategist Steve Bannon is planning a strategy for his return — have kept the conversation alive. Analysts, however, argue that repealing the amendment would require two-thirds approval from both Congress and state legislatures, making it nearly impossible.
