US President Donald Trump has expanded his recent trade warnings from Apple Inc. to Samsung Mobile, announcing a 25 percent tariff on all smartphones sold in the United States, including Samsung devices. Trump emphasized that the tariffs will target any smartphones not manufactured within the US.
Speaking on the issue, Trump stated that companies producing their products domestically will be exempt from tariffs. However, importing smartphones manufactured abroad will face the 25 percent levy, which he described as a necessary measure to promote American manufacturing.

This follows Trump’s earlier warning to Apple against increasing investments in India, threatening similar tariffs if the company expands production outside the US. Despite the warning, Apple has shown continued interest in manufacturing iPhones in India.
It's a win win for Samsung anyhow if Trump imposes 25% tariff on iPhones in US.

Trump underscored his stance that iPhones sold in the US must be produced domestically. If produced elsewhere, such as India, Apple would be required to pay the imposed tariff. Following the announcement, Apple’s stock price reportedly fell by approximately three percent.
