Hyderabad: Renowned Tollywood lyricist Kulasekhar passed away today due to health complications, as confirmed by sources in the film industry. The 53-year-old lyricist began his career with the hit film Chitram and went on to write songs for over 100 films. Early in his career, he was mentored by the legendary lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, which helped him hone his craft.

Contributions to Telugu Cinema

Kulasekhar’s work was instrumental in the success of several popular films, including Jayam, Gharshana, Vasantham, Subbu, and Nuvvu Nenu. He was known for his collaborations with director Teja and music composer R.P. Patnaik, contributing to numerous hit songs that became chartbusters in the Telugu film industry.

Personal Challenges

In recent years, Kulasekhar faced significant personal and financial difficulties. Sources close to him revealed that in 2008, he began suffering from a brain-related illness, which led to memory loss. In 2013, he was arrested in connection with the theft of a temple idol in Kakinada and was sentenced to six months in prison. During subsequent investigations, it was determined that Kulasekhar’s mental health issues played a role in his actions. He was later moved to Rajahmundry for medical treatment.
