Ten CPI (Maoist) operatives surrendered in a major breakthrough for security forces in Madhya Pradesh. The surrender took place in Balaghat in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, marking a significant blow to the Maoist network in the region. The development follows a nationwide trend of Maoist cadres laying down arms after an appeal from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
According to officials, all ten surrendered members belonged to the Bhorsadev Area Committee and collectively carried a reward of ₹2.36 crore. They handed over sophisticated weapons including AK-47 and INSAS rifles, signalling a step back from armed insurgency. Four women were among those who surrendered.
Authorities reported that the group had been involved in Maoist activities across Mandla district in Madhya Pradesh, Gondia district in Maharashtra and Kawardha district in Chhattisgarh. With this surrender, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that Dindori and Mandla districts are now completely free from Maoist influence.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to making Madhya Pradesh a Maoist-free state in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
