Taipei: India’s Jyothi Yarraji delivered a standout performance at the Taiwan Athletics Open 2025, securing a gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles final. The Visakhapatnam-born athlete completed the race in 12.99 seconds, showcasing remarkable grit as she surged ahead in the final hurdles to claim victory.
The race was closely contested, with Yarraji trailing until the last two hurdles. Her late burst left the audience stunned, adding another prestigious accolade to her career. This comes shortly after her gold medal win at the Asian Athletics Championships, where she clocked 12.96 seconds.

The medal marked India’s fourth on the opening day of the multi-sport event. In the men’s 110m hurdles, Tejas Shirse also bagged gold for India. Meanwhile, triple jumper Abdulla Aboobacker claimed the top podium finish with a best leap of 16.21 meters, achieved in his third attempt—becoming the only athlete in the event to cross the 16-meter mark. Aboobacker had previously won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
