Hyderabad is set for further expansion as the Telangana government undertakes a significant increase in the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) limits. This extension, which adds another 10 kilometers to the existing 50-kilometer boundary, is aimed at accommodating the city’s growth. A gazette notification has been issued to incorporate villages adjacent to Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) into the municipalities.

In line with this expansion, a cabinet sub-committee has decided to suspend panchayat elections in 51 villages. These villages, located in the Medchal Malkajgiri, Ranga Reddy, and Sangareddy districts within the ORR, will be merged into the municipalities. The municipalities of Pedda Amberpet, Qutbullapur, Nagaram, Tumkunta, Tukkuguda, Narsingi, Shamshabad Medchal, Dammaiguda, Pocharam, Ghatkesar, Gundlapochampally, Aminpur, and Tellapur will all be integrated into the GHMC.
