Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has dismissed YSRCP leader and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s wife, Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi’s petition seeking appointment as the Managing Trustee of the Basavatarakam Trust. The court overturned the City Civil Court’s previous orders, stating that due legal procedures were not followed.
Lakshmi Parvathi had filed the petition in 2009, claiming that a supplementary will, allegedly written by NTR on November 18, 1995, named her as the Managing Trustee. However, the High Court observed that the City Civil Court failed to properly validate the will. It noted that the lower court had accepted the testimony of J.V. Prasada Rao, son of witness J. Venkatasubbaiah, without issuing summons to Venkatasubbaiah or another key witness, Y. Tirupatirao. The court ruled that such an approach was legally untenable, emphasizing the lack of documented proof regarding Venkatasubbaiah’s death.

The Basavatarakam Trust, along with Nandamuri Balakrishna and Nandamuri Harikrishna, had challenged the lower court’s decision by filing a civil revision petition in the High Court. After reviewing the case, the High Court ruled in their favor, dismissing Lakshmi Parvathi’s plea and setting aside the lower court’s order.
